The Antarctic Diary of Belgrave Edward Sutton Ninnis who was a Lieutenant in the Royal Fusiliers before joining Mawson’s expedition as a dog handler with Swiss born Xavier Mertz. The two men with distinctly different backgrounds, became close friends but were the only two fatalities of the expedition. It is funny, sad, compelling reading.
